FINEEC audits of higher education institutions 2018-2024 include the opportunity of being awarded a Quality Label for Excellence

– The Quality Label for Excellence is awarded to higher education institutions that have distinguished themselves with their commitment to development work that is of exceptionally high quality. By being awarded the Quality Label for Excellence, a higher education institution has demonstrated that it possesses an innovative and pioneering spirit, an approach that focuses on long-term development, and a participatory operating culture, says Helka Kekäläinen, Director of the Higher Education and Liberal Adult Education Unit.

A higher education institution can be nominated as a candidate for receiving the Quality Label for Excellence if the audit team grants the level excellent in at least in one of the evaluation areas I-III of the audit.

The Higher Education Evaluation Committee awards the Quality Labels for Excellence once per year: in spring 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024. The pilot institutions (Novia University of Applied Sciences and JAMK University of Applied Sciences) in FINEEC’s third round of quality audits were evaluated at the level excellent in the evaluation area III HEI enhances quality and well-being. Thus, both institutions are among the first candidates for Quality Label for Excellence.

An HEI audited or re-audited by FINEEC may request a review of the assessment outcome

The purpose of the procedure is to ensure the equal treatment of HEIs in the audits and to guarantee that the decision-making of the Higher Education Evaluation Committee is fair regarding the outcome of the audit.The procedure follows the jointly agreed European quality assurance principles for evaluation agencies.

The procedure has been updated in order to apply to the FINEEC quality audits 2018-2024. An expert team for the appeals procedure will be nominated by the Evaluation Council in the autumn 2019.
