The engineering degree programme in Mechanical Engineering at JAMK University of Applied Sciences was awarded the European EUR-ACE label following an accreditation by the Finnish Education Evaluation Centre (FINEEC). The accreditation is valid for six years until 24th May 2027.

Effective regional cooperation and laboratory facilities as the degree programme´s strengths

The strengths of the degree programme identified by the accreditation team relate e.g. to the strong regional cooperation and laboratory facilies. The cooperation between the Advisory Board, industry stakeholders and the degree programme staff is excellent. The degree programme strongly involves talented teaching staff with industrial backgrounds. The curriculum reflects the needs of the Central Finland business and industry and the curriculum is updated regularly. The facilities and laboratory equipment convincingly support the achievement of the practical learning outcomes.

The areas for further improvement identified by the accreditation team relate e.g.  to strengthening the analytical skills and technical writing skills as well as international skills in the curriculum and implementation of the degree programme. In addition, students could be better informed on the possibility to get their prior studies or other learning recognised.

The engineering programme accreditation is a degree programme specific evaluation leading to the European EUR-ACE Label. The accreditation aims to support the development of quality in engineering degree programmes and increase international comparability and recognition of Finnish engineering degrees in the European industry. The engineering degree programme accreditations are voluntary for higher education institutions in Finland.
