For Students

Students are an important part of daily work at FINEEC. Every year, we have several higher education trainees and it is also possible to complete a period of work experience (TET) at FINEEC. Students can use the data we have collected for evaluations in their theses if the criteria for disclosing the data are met.

Traineeship

Every year, several higher education trainees work at FINEEC in the evaluations of different levels of education as well as in communications and administration. Higher education traineeship means a study unit that is a compulsory or optional part of higher education studies. The length of traineeships completed at FINEEC vary depending on the higher education institution and the degree programme.

The tasks of the trainees are planned carefully to support the student’s studies, and the traineeship must be included in the degree. The aim of the traineeship is to both promote competence and increase interaction between higher education institutions and working life.

To guarantee successful traineeships, FINEEC has an induction programme for trainees. An instructor is also assigned for each trainee to support the trainee's learning process throughout the traineeship.

“The traineeship at FINEEC provided an outlook to the diverse world of evaluation and enhancement of education in Finland. It was inspiring to learn about the topic of the evaluation project, but also to see the wider context in education policy. The experience I gained from working in an expert community was useful from the point of view of moving on to working life in the future as the specialists at FINEEC are experienced and nice people. I became part of the crew easily as the instructors for the traineeship made sure I can manage and have enough work.”

All our traineeships are paid. We hope to receive a traineeship subsidy from the higher education institution, but it is not necessary.

We announce the traineeships on the universities’ aarresaari.net website and in the recruitment channels of universities of applied sciences. We also add the job advertisements to the current issues section on our website and publish information about them in our social media channels.

Use of the data in research

In certain situations, it is possible to use the data collected by FINEEC in research. The data can also be utilised by those completing a thesis or a doctoral dissertation. When you apply for the right to access the data, you must have a research plan in which the name of the research project, the research questions, the requested data and the possible funding are recorded. The person applying for the actual access right is the instructor of your work.

Certain criteria must be met before we can disclose the data. Previously defined criteria also determine whether the data will be subject to a charge or whether it will be disclosed free of charge.

Periods of work experience

Familiarisation with working life is also possible by completing a period of work experience (TET) at FINEEC. The trainees often contact us themselves to enquire about a work experience. Enquiries about periods of work experience can be sent to kirjaamo@karvi.fi

We assign an instructor for all trainees completing a period of work experience with us and aim to build a timetable for the work experience in accordance with what the pupil is interested in.

”I was able to do many interesting things during my one-week work experience. After the initial introduction of FINEEC's organisation, I participated in a few important projects. I helped in the preparation of events related to them by going through materials, proposing improvements to them and explaining my own thoughts about them. In a way, I was also acting as a test audience and an evaluator, which was handy as I was the same age as the target group of those projects.”
