Evaluation of the implementation of anti-bullying activities and methods aiming to prevent bullying by children and supporting socio-emotional skills in early childhood education and care

Early childhood education and care

The project evaluates methods aiming to prevent bullying by children and to support socio-emotional skills as part of the activities of child groups and early childhood education and care (ECEC) centres. Anti-bullying methods in this evaluation meant methods aimed at ECEC, the goal of which is the prevention of bullying, intervention in bullying or post-treatment of bullying, i.e. organizing support as needed after a bullying situation. It additionally produces information on how methods that prevent bullying by children and support socio-emotional skills are used in early childhood education and care.

The purpose of the evaluation is to produce information about different methods and their functionality and effectiveness. With the help of the evaluation, information is disseminated about the usability of different methods, so that ECEC organizers and centres could choose the most suitable methods for themselves. The purpose of the evaluation is not to contrast different anti-bullying methods or to compare their superiority, but to spread information about the good practices of different methods and highlight their development needs.

The goals also to produce information of how anti-bullying work is carried out in ECEC centres. Anti-bullying work comprises the operating culture of the ECEC centre as well as the work of the group's personnel, including interaction and jointly agreed practices.

In the first phase of the project, anti-bullying methods used in basic education were assessed. More information on the evaluation is available on the project website. Link to project website
